Annual DCMAND Meeting & Abstract Presentation
April 28th, 2017 I had to opportunity to present my abstract Draining D.C. Food Swamps: One Fruit and Vegetable at a Time the morning of this conference and was awarded the Best Student Poster Exhibit in the Unique Project category. The remainder of the day we heard speaker discuss innovative approaches to large scale programs, foods of the future, using improv principles to improve collaborations as a dietitian and how to approach nutrition science. |
Food & Friends Joint Day
March 13th, 2017 Food & Friends is a local D.C. organization that aims to improve the lives and health of persons with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illness that impact their nutrition status. Part of our class day was spent learning about the nutritional implications of different diseases. The remainder of the day was spent packing meals for Food & Friends participants. |
MAND Legislative Workshop Day
February 8th, 2017 For this workshop our class had the opportunity to travel to the state capital and learn about the local proposed and current law that affect the dietetics profession. Half of the day was spent meeting with our own legislator to discuss bills that were going to be voted on during the current session. |
Communication & Information Management Joint Class Day
January 17th, 2017 Our internship program was about to host this joint class day with the surroundinf area internships. We covered topics that included the Maryland WIC program, outcome of the Sugar Free Maryland campaign, dialogue learning in the context of nutrition education and using social media as a dietitian. |
Children's National Medical Center Class Day
January 6th, 2017 This Pediatric Nutrition Symposium covered medical nutrition therapy for a variety of different pediatric diseases and conditions, including: oncology, cystic fibrosis, weight management, diabetes, GI disorders, NICU and inborn errors of metabolism. |
MD-DHCC - 2016 Fall Workshop
October 5th, 2016 Attended conference to learn more about OHCQ updates and regulations, long-term care TPN and EN, nutrition management of wounds and particpate in a Nutrition Focused Physcial Examination workshop. Also aided in facilitation of guests, door prizes, and raffles. |
