Anne Arundel County Department of Aging
Overview
The Department of Aging in Anne Arundel County functions under title three to provide all seniors over the age of 60, or those who are disabled, with free meals. Legislation is not specific on the frequency of these meals, but at most sites under the Anne Arundel department serves lunch is provided each week day. During my four days at this rotation we were able to visit a handful of the locations in which meals are provides. My experience here was concluded with a nutrition education given at the Annapolis Senior Center. I selected Greek Yogurt to be the focus of my nutrition education due to the importance that protein and calcium play in health aging. My nutrition education featured a snack of a Greek yogurt ranch dressing with fresh squash and zucchini . Below you can see the snack and handout from the nutrition education and the talking points covered.
